The Ekadashi Tithi & Ekadashi Vrat

In brief, according to Hinduism, the lunar phase has two different phases— the New Moon, or Krishna Paksha, and the Full Moon, or Shukla Paksha (waxing moon). On the whole, fourteen days make up each phase. Further, according to ancient texts, the Ekadashi Vrat lasts for three days. Devotees enjoy one meal in the afternoon on the tenth day (Dashami), the day before the fast, to ensure there won’t be any leftover food in their bodies the following day.

Besides, devotees keep a tight fast on Ekadashi and break it after Sunrise. So depending on their physical stamina and resolve, devotees may pick a rigorous Ekadashi Vrat. During it, natives abstain from all food and liquids. They may break their fast by consuming fruits or Phalhaar, such as juices, milk products, tea, etc.
