Day 4 of Navratri is for Maa Kushmanda, the fourth form of Maa Durga. It symbolizes a form of Maa Durga, which is the source of happiness for all. The name of Kushmanda Mata, i.e., Ku means ‘something,’ Ushma means ‘heat,’ and Anda means universe or creation. This is why she is known as the creator of the universe.

What to know about Devi Kushmanda?

She is Ashtabhuja, as she has eight arms. From them, her seven hands hold a bow, arrow, mace, chakra, lotus, kamandalu, and an urn of nectar (for longevity and good health). However, in the 8th hand, she holds a rosary. She blesses her devotees with Ashtasiddhi (8 types of sources of knowledge) and Navanidhi (9 types of wealth). 

Maa Kushmanda sits on a lion, which represents Dharma. She resides in the center of the Sun and looks after the functioning of the Surya Lok.

People must pray to her with a calm and devoted mind. Since she likes the sacrifice of pumpkin because her name Kushmand means pumpkin in the Sanskrit language, you must offer this. Moreover, devotees can offer Rudraksha beads, saffron cloth, and marigold flowers to seek the blessings of the goddess. Worshiping her removes troubles, sorrows, and obstacles from the life of her devotees. Not only this, but the native also gets the blessings of name, fame, health, and strength.

Day 4 of Chaitra Navratri 2023: Tithi to worship Devi Kushmanda

On the fourth day of Chaitra Navratri, i.e., Chaitra Shukla Paksha Chaturthi date, natives should pray to Maa Kushmanda. It will be on March 25, 2023, Saturday. 

As per the Hindu religion, it is one of the most auspicious days of Chaitra month to do any sort of work. This is why people choose a time for everything from worship to buying a vehicle. Along with this, by worshiping during the auspicious time, the person gets the blessings of the Durga Maa, and all your wishes will get fulfilled.

Rituals to follow to worship Maa Kushmanda

  • On the fourth day of Chaitra Navratri 2023, you should wake up early and bathe.
  • Then, clean the place of worship properly and start your rituals to worship Mata Kushmanda.
  • To worship the form of Durga Maa, you should offer red colored flowers, hibiscus, or rose flowers to the Durga Maa.
  • In addition to it, you should do vermilion, incense, lamp, naivedya, etc.
  • You can wear green clothes while worshipping the Durga Maa, as it is auspicious.
  • Also, you can offer petha, curd, or halwa to the Durga Maa.
  • You can also offer Malpua to Mata Kushmanda. According to belief, offering Malpua pleases the Durga Maa and bestows her blessings on the devotees.
  • Moreover, worshiping this form of Durga Maa according to the rules and regulations and fasting, etc., destroys all diseases, and the Durga Maa blesses the person with a healthy body.

Due to the eight arms of Mata Kushmanda, she is the Ashtabhuja Devi. Along with this, worshipping this form of Durga Maa destroys all diseases. If a person chants this mantra of Maa with full devotion, then Maa is pleased and blesses him with a healthy body.

Tale related to this form of Durga Maa

According to Hindu religious scriptures, Mata Kushmanda means Kumhada, and Kumhada is also known as Kushmanda. Hence, this fourth form of Maa Durga is named Kushmanda. The incarnation of the Durga Maa took place to kill the demons. There it is believed that when this world did not even exist, only darkness was around. Then, Maa Kushmanda was born in the fourth form of the goddess to create this creation. For this reason, Durga Maa has also been called Adiswarupa.

According to mythology, Goddess Kushmanda’s body shines like the Sun. Whoever worships the Durga Maa with a true heart, destroys all diseases and sorrows. Along with this, natives’ devotion increases their strength, age, fame, and health.
