What is Bhumi Pujan?

Let’s understand that ‘Bhumi’ means Mother Earth. It is necessary that we hold the utmost respect for her. Bhumi Pujan is always performed before commencing the construction of a house. During Bhumi Pujan, apart from worshipping deities, the Pandit also performs the worship of the five elements of nature. According to Vastu Shastra, the Bhumi Pujan ritual should always be conducted in the northeast direction of the house.

Bhumi Pujan Muhurat 2024: Before starting the construction, the foundation stone of the house is laid. According to astrology, the best months for Bhumi Pujan are Baisakh (May), Margashirsha (December), Poush (January), and Phalgun (March). As per astrologers, Shravan, Magh, Bhadrapada, and Kartik months are also considered auspicious.

However, it is advised not to commence construction from Ashadha Shukla to Kartik Shukla. It is believed that Lord Vishnu rests during this period, starting from Ashadha Shukla Ekadashi to Kartik Shukla Ekadashi. Therefore, if you start the construction during this four-month period, you may not receive Lord Vishnu’s blessings.
