Bollywood Nepotism: The Reason Behind Sushant’s Death?

Bollywood Nepotism

The tragic death of Sushant Singh Rajput has sparked debate in the film industry and the public. Bollywood has a reputation of launching star kids and treating outsiders as just outsiders you know. However, the audience got a reality check when Sushant a gullible, talented actor hanged himself because of the partiality and allegations. The fire has just started and it’s in no mood to lighten. Many Bollywood biggies faced the wrath of the masses after the death of an innocent actor. Karan Johar, Sonam Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Salman Khan are among the few who have been facing backlash from the public. Bollywood Nepotism is now out in the open and we are definitely not backing out.

What is Bollywood Nepotism?

Bollywood patronage is also known as favoritism, is getting your most loved friend or family member movies. It is unethical in nature, however, this is an age-old tradition. We have been witnessing it for long but now the death of an actor from a small village in Bihar has triggered our emotions. Carrying a legacy by the most influential families is what you can call nepotism. A certain amount of discrimination exits in all spheres of work especially politics. Nevertheless, this new phenomenon is a topic of concern in the Hindi cinema and its authenticity.

Stars that have lost their fanbase

  • Karan Johar is among the first celebrity blamed for the death of Sushant. He wrote a long message in condolence with Rajput’s death on Instagram. However, the public completely lost their cool and started bailing out. The negative comments on his post were the start of something big. You know what it is? The start of a new audience, that appreciates talent. Kangana Ranawat in his chat show Koffee with Karan labeled him as the “flag-bearer of Nepotism.” She also in a direct and subtle manner called him the movie mafia of Bollywood.
  • Alia Bhatt yet another star kid, daughter of the director Mahesh Bhatt had to lose her Instagram followers. Netizens called her out for her comment on Koffee with Karan in regards to Rajput. She is a great actress but we cannot deny the fact that it was destined to be her career choice.
  • Sonam Kapoor after pretending to not know who Sushant Singh Rajput in the most controversial Karan Johar show. The Twitterattis lashed out at her searing up rage. After all, she’s the daughter of Anil Kapoor born with a sliver soon. Talentless, and an outcome of her influential Kapoor family.
  • Salman Khan was also not spared as he is directly in relation to Sushant’s death. Many people are of the belief that Khan boycotted him in an award show. He made big banners not to sign up any movie with Rajput. In fact, controversies after controversies about Slaman Khan cropped up in news about his favoritism.

What Next?

We don’t know if this debate will ever come to an end or the fresh budding artist will be given a chance. But we do know is that the entertainment industry has seen its first outrage. The public until now was blindly following these stars and was treating them as Gods. However, things are about to change for the good. Non-nepotistic stars like Kangana Ranaut, Ayushman Khurana, Akshay Kumar are prime examples that Bollywood deserves better. It is a long way home but at least the audience is becoming aware of the dark side of Bollywood. Hindi cinema is just glitz and glamour but a whole lot of politics runs within. We hope that other struggling actors should also get equal opportunity. Sushant was a victim of discrimination and depression, we don’t want another Sushant in the industry.
