Kartik Purnima Auspicious Yogas

Purnima is one of the most important dates in Hinduism. Among them, Kartik Purnima holds special importance. This is because Hindus and Sikhs both celebrate it. In 2026, Kartik Purnima is even more special as three auspicious yogas will coincide on this day. Let’s explore the auspicious yogas forming on Kartik Purnima, along with the rituals and traditions from Ganga Snan to Dev Diwali.

Significance of Kartik Purnima

Kartik Purnima is also known as Tripurari Purnima or Tripuri Purnima. People also celebrate Dev Diwali on this day. As part of this ritual, you should take a holy bath in the Ganga River and light lamps.

In the Sikh community, Kartik Purnima also marks Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s birth anniversary. Sikhs celebrate this festival as Prakash Parv. In South India, people observe this day as the birth anniversary of Lord Kartikeya, the son of Lord Shiva.

These religious beliefs and traditions make Kartik Purnima especially significant across communities.

Three Auspicious Yogas to Form on Kartik Purnima 2026

According to the Hindu calendar, Purnima tithi of Kartik month will be observed on Wednesday, November 24, 2026. It is also known by several names, including Tripuri Purnima, Tripurari Purnima, Dev Diwali, Maha Kartiki Purnima, and Ganga Snan Parv.

This year, three auspicious yogas, namely Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga, Hamsa Mahapurusha Raj Yoga, and Shivvas, will also form on Kartik Purnima, making the occasion especially auspicious and spiritually significant.

Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga: According to the Panchang, Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga will form with the presence of Krittika Nakshatra from 6:51 AM and remain in effect until 11:25 PM.

Hamsa Mahapurusha Raj Yoga: This auspicious yoga forms when Jupiter is placed in an angular house in its exalted sign (Cancer) or its own sign. When Jupiter sits in these signs, it enhances knowledge and leadership qualities, brings financial stability, and inclines one toward spirituality.

Shivvas Yoga: Devotees also observe Shivvas Yoga on Kartik Purnima, worshipping Lord Shiva in his Tripurari form with special rituals and prayers.

Devotees should wake up before sunrise and take a holy bath in any of the sacred rivers: Ganga, Yamuna, or Narmada. If visiting a river isn’t possible, adding a little holy Ganga water to your regular bathwater also works.

After you bathe, wear clean clothes and offer Arghya to the Sun God. You can also donate food grains and clothes as you wish, according to your capacity. Further, on this day, donating blankets and black sesame seeds is also considered spiritually rewarding.
