What to Do After Seeing the Moon

Prepare all the puja items on a plate before moonrise. Keep a karwa, a sieve, a lit diya, sweets, and a pot (kalash filled with water, sindoor, kumkum, Akshat, flowers, and other items on the puja plate. After seeing the Moon in the sky, first offer your prayers to it and then offer Arghya using the water in the karwa. Make sure to add Akshat and flowers to the karwa as well. In some traditions, the karwa is tilted seven times or the sieve is rotated seven times; you can do it according to your family’s traditions and customs. After this, look at the Moon through the sieve with the lit diya and then look at your husband’s face. Now drink the first sip of water from your husband’s hands to break your fast. Then eat sweets. After breaking the fast, touch the feet of the elders in the family and seek their blessings.
