Know who can seek benefits of Gajakesari yoga as per astrology

Gajakesari Yoga

The word Gajakesari means Gaja for Elephant, and Kesari means Lion. Both Elephant and Lion are powerful and represent authority and intelligence. People with Gaja Kesari Yoga seek good wealth, courage, respect from others and are generally good speakers. Gajakesari yoga in Vedic astrology is a combination of Moon and Jupiter. This yoga forms when Jupiter is in Kendra sthana (1st, 4th, 7th, or 10th house) from the Moon.

Gaj Kesari Yoga: Important planetary combinations

Apart from the above three points, consider the following for Gaj Kesari Yoga:

  • Moon should not be present in the 6th, 8th & 12th houses.
  • In Navamsa, Moon & Jupiter should not fall in signs, which are present in the 6th, 8th & 12th house in the main natal birth chart (D-1).
  • The Moon should be at least four houses away from the Sun.
  • Moon should not be in Scorpio.
  • Gaja Kesari Yoga should not be formed in Makara as Jupiter acts debilitated in Makara Rashi.
  • If Jupiter or Moon is in Pushkar Navamsa or Bhag, the good results of Gajakesari will increase significantly.

Why does not everybody seek Gajkesari Yoga benefits?

If we do some maths, we shall see that about 30% of people are born with Gajakesari yoga in their Kundli. However, not all enjoy its benefits and favors.

Let us understand this with an example:

If a person is with Kanya Rashi and Mithuna Lagna. Also, he/she possesses Mars in Lagna and Jupiter in the 4th house from Lagna. He or she shall not enjoy Gaj Kesari Yoga privileges.

But why?

  • Well, Jupiter and Moon are together. So, this means Jupiter is in Kendra from the Moon and is not retrograding.
  • Moreover, Moon and Jupiter are together and are placed in the 4th house (Kendra) from Lagna.
  • So, the Moon is Maraka for Mithuna Lagna. And Jupiter is the 7th Lord (Kendradipathi {lord of one of the Kendra houses}) and is in the 4th house.
  • If a Kendradipathi sits in the Kendra, it creates a Kendradhipati Dosha.
  • Another reason for not getting benefits is the second condition for Gajakesari yoga.
  • Jupiter should not have any aspect from Malefic Planet(s). However, in this case, Mars— a Malefic planet has its 4th aspect on Jupiter.
  • Due to Kendradipathi Dosha and Malefic aspects, this horoscope will not benefit from Gajakesari yoga.
