According to traditional Hindu calendar Krishna Paksh ashtami of Kartik month. The vrat and Pooja of Ahoi Ashtami is devoted to Ahoi Mata who is also known as goddess Hoi. The Ashtami date starts from 9:29 a.m. on October 17 2022 according to the Panchang.
And the date ends at 11:57 a.m. on 18th October The festival is significantly observed in Northern India.
Although Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are famous for the grand celebration of the Hoi Mata vrat.

The Ahoi Ashtami 2022 muhurat starts from 5:50 p.m. till 7:05 p.m. with a duration of 1 hour 15 minutes.
The star viewing time is 6:30 p.m. on October 17th.
The moon will rise at 11:24 p.m. on 17th October on Ahoi ashtami.

The first on Ahoi ashtami is held from sunrise to the sighting of the Moon. However many women break their fast on seeing the first Star.
Women observing the vrat have to wake up before the sunrise, do the daily chores and take a bath before going to the temple.
The women observing the first take the pledge to complete the first with complete diligence without drinking a drop of water or eating a grain of food. The fast or vrat is held from day break till the first sight of the moon or the star.
A drawing of Ahoi Mata was made on a clean wall traditionally, instead a poster of the goddess can also be placed on the wall.
Women observing the fast have to perform the ritual of placing a bowl of water in front of the deity of Ahoi Mata and draping the red thread around the holy kalash or karva or an earthen pot by smearing or coating kumkum and chandan around the edges.
Goddess Parvati is worshiped on this day as she protects the devotees from misfortune and the Ahoi Mata vrat katha is narrated in the evening.
Sweets and other traditional bhogs are prepared and presented to the goddess Hoi including, radish, milk, rice, water chestnuts, and cook food including pua, and Puri halwa, which are then shared with the children
Some communities use Ahoi Mata made from silver for the pooja. The silver form of the deity of a Hoi Mata is known as Syau and is worshiped by milk, akshat and roli.
Many families keep a garland made of gold or silver coins belonging to the generation of that family during the pooja in front of the deity of Ahoi Mata.
